Rules of MathPoker

01

Setup & Deck

  • ·The Cards: The deck contains 44 Number Cards (values 0–10, each with a tie-breaking "rank" from 1 to 4) and 8 Special Operators (4 Square Root, 4 Multiplication).
  • ·Default Hand: Every player automatically starts with three default operator cards: + Plus, Minus, and / Divide.
02

The First Draw

  • ·The game automatically deals the first card to each player face-down. This card is strictly guaranteed to be a Number Card.
  • ·The game then deals two additional cards to each player face-up for the table to see.
03

Special Operator Rules

  • ·Square Root: If a player is dealt a sqrt card, they automatically receive an additional Number Card.
  • ·Multiplication: If a player is dealt a × card, they must permanently discard one of the following: their default +, , or the × card itself. In return they receive an additional Number Card. (The default / card cannot be discarded).
04

First Betting Round

  • ·With one hidden card and two visible cards (plus any extras from special operators), the first betting round begins.
  • ·Standard poker rules apply (small blind, big blind, check, call, raise, fold).
05

Second Draw

  • ·After the first betting round, each active player draws one more card face-up from the pod.
  • ·The same special operator rules apply: sqrt grants an extra Number Card, and × requires discarding a +, , or the × itself in exchange for an extra Number Card.
06

Second Betting Round

  • ·A second betting round follows the second draw. The small blind acts first. The same standard poker rules apply (check, call, raise, fold).
07

Equation Phase

  • ·All remaining players have 60 seconds to arrange their cards into a valid mathematical equation by dragging them into order.
  • ·Valid equation rules: Number cards and operator cards must strictly alternate. Two Number Cards cannot be adjacent, and two non-sqrt operator cards cannot be adjacent.
  • ·Once satisfied, a player clicks "Lock In" to submit their equation. If the timer runs out without locking in, the equation is submitted automatically in its current order.
08

Showdown & Winning

  • ·Low Bet: The player whose equation result is closest to 1 wins the pot. If multiple players tie on distance, the player with the lowest number card wins; if still tied, the player with the lowest rank of that card wins.
  • ·High Bet: The player whose equation result is closest to 20 wins their share of the pot. Tiebreaks go to the highest number card value, then the highest rank.
  • ·Swing Bet: The player has to create 2 equations with the same cards. One has to be near 20, the other one has to be near 1. If one of the equations looses to another one, the whole swing bet looses.
  • ·Players choosing the same bet type compete only against each other. Low-bet winners and High-bet winners each claim half the pot. If the pot is odd, one chip is removed from the game.
09

Between Rounds

  • ·Any player reduced to 0 chips is eliminated from the game immediately after the showdown.
  • ·The small blind rotates one seat clockwise each round. A new deck is prepared and the next round starts automatically.
  • ·The game ends when only one player remains. They are declared the winner.
